Data is collected by the remote monitoring unit and then transmitted utilizing various communications channels, including fibre optic cables, cellular phones and low earth orbiting satellites. Remote monitoring reduces or eliminates the need for companies to send personnel on‐site in order to monitor corrosion protection systems on a variety of structures, including pipelines, storage tanks and reinforced concrete structures. Data collected via the remote monitoring units can also be utilized by risk assessment and management software in order to provide customers with a comprehensive corrosion monitoring program.
